Evening Standard runs Routemaster bus
Recently The Evening Standard offered every reader a stunning Free poster, showing the last journey of the last Routemaster, crossing Westminster Bridge in London.
The poster, is the first in a new series depicting London Icons and features RM 2217, now famous for its two ‘lasts’ – the first being the ‘last’ standard Routemaster built in May 1965, the second being the bus to operate the ‘last’ scheduled journey on route 159 on 8th December 2005. on the last day of traditional Routemaster operation.
RM2217 owned and run by Arriva at the time, is still owned and maintained by them as part of the unique Arriva Heritage Fleet. The fleet has been developed to make these historic vehicles available for all to see, as part of London ’s transport history.
RM2217 and the rest of The Arriva Heritage Fleet are available for use at corporate and personal celebrations, and can also be seen at rallies and events throughout the coming year. See our upcoming events section on the home page.
