The Lord Mayor's Show
A vehicle from Arriva London’s Heritage fleet was given a special duty on November 10 as it took pride of place in the Lord Mayor’s Show.
It was also joined by Arriva’s Hybrid electric bus and an open-top bus from The Original Tour.
The Heritage Fleet had been contacted by the City of London’s Department of Children’s and Communities’ Services and asked if it would allow the buses to be used as floats in the famous parade.
Attracting some half a million spectators who lined the streets to catch a glimpse of the three-mile procession, the parade travelled from Mansion House to the Royal Courts of Justice, where it is tradition for the Lord Mayor to take an oath of allegiance to the sovereign.
At the wheel of Routemaster RMC1464 (the open topper), were Arriva Norwood drivers Peter Bennett and Andy Groves.
Aboard RMC1464, which was decked out with adverts, was a large polystyrene dragon and people in fancy dress. They wore pinstripe suits and bowler hats.
Peter Bennett, said: “It was an honour to be asked to drive in the parade as I especially like driving the heritage fleet buses.
