To raise awareness of the project, the Beatles tribute band, Beatles Forever, toured local schools for three days prior to the event, playing Beatles songs from the top deck of The Arriva Heritage Fleet's open topper RMC1464.

And on the 10th the bus, with Beatles Forever, was a major part of the celebrations in the city centre, helping to bring the community together, as well as raising funds for the events charities, The Alder Hey Imagine Appeal, and the Marina Dalglish Appeal.

The Beatles Forever's Philip Marshal, who plays John Lennon in the group, said 'It was a great vibe, there were hundreds watching. I couldn’t come here and not play 'Imagine' it's such a simple song with a great message'.

The open topper had been loaned to The Arriva Heritage Fleet's sister company Arriva North West to assist them in supporting the Beatles Day event.

The bus left Norwood early on the 3rd July driven by driving instructor, Richard Pearce, arriving in Liverpool later that evening after a journey of over 200 miles. Richard then spent some time giving familiarization training to staff at Arriva North West.

Dave Jones, from the Arriva Heritage Fleet underlined the value of this type of cooperation within Arriva, welcoming the opportunity to be of assistance, he said:

'This type of event demonstrates not only the cooperation within the group across the country, but the flexibility of the Arriva Heritage Fleet.

This year our open topper has been used for football celebrations, proms, visits to horse racing venues, weddings and corporate promotions, the possibilities are endless and only limited to the users imagination.'
